Passenger Causes Two-Hour Flight Delay After Vaping in Toilet

A 21-year-old male passenger caused a two-hour delay to a Ryanair flight from Edinburgh to Alicante after allegedly vaping in the aircraft toilet. The incident occurred on July 3, 2025, when a smoke alarm alerted the crew to the offence.

Passenger Tristan James Walker, 39, captured footage of six police officers boarding the plane to remove the young man. Walker said the flight was already delayed due to staff sickness when the alarm sounded. The passenger was escorted off calmly and taken into a police van.

Walker later encountered the man on Benidorm's famous strip, where he told Walker he received a caution and was banned from Ryanair. A Police Scotland spokesperson confirmed the 21-year-old was charged with an aviation offence, with a report submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.
