Gateshead Council has announced upcoming lane closures on the Felling Bypass and A184 Askew Road. The closures are scheduled for four dates over the coming weeks, with work taking place between 9:30am and 3:30pm.
Closure dates and reasons
The lane closures are planned for 30 August and 6 September on the Felling Bypass, with further slow lane closures on the A184 Askew Road on 20 and 27 September. One of the reasons given for the temporary closure is "Central reservation grass cutting".
The work is timed to avoid the major commuting rush, with closures estimated to run from 9:30am until 3:30pm.
Advice for commuters
A post on the council's social media pages states that "Essential roadworks will take place on the Felling Bypass over the coming weeks, with lane closures planned on 30 August and 6 September."
People are warned to "Please allow extra time for your journey and follow signed diversions where required." Further information on the other closures isn't available on the roadworks map on the Gateshead Council website.
Gateshead has seen its fair share of travel disruption this summer, with the Park Lane roundabout closure causing massive back-ups and disrupting Gateshead town centre.
