A person has died after being struck by a train near the Nottinghamshire village of Attenborough, causing widespread disruption to rail services across the East Midlands.

British Transport Police (BTP) were called to the railway lines near Attenborough at approximately 12.45pm on Wednesday, 17 December 2025, following reports of a casualty. Officers and paramedics attended the scene, where a person was sadly pronounced dead. The force has stated that the incident is not being treated as suspicious and that a file will be prepared for the coroner.
