Passengers were evacuated from a Lothian Buses number 3 service on Princes Street in Edinburgh city centre on Saturday evening after the vehicle filled with smoke. Footage from the scene shows people being led off the bus as smoke engulfed the vehicle.
No injuries reported
It is understood that nobody was injured in the incident, and no road closures were required. A witness named Jack, who filmed the clip, said the bus "just blew up as he walked along the road." Sharing online, he added: "Passengers evacuated from a bus on Princes Street."
Locals react online
Locals were quick to flood the comments section with reactions. One said: "Princes Street is jinxed," while a second added: "What is going on in Edinburgh!" A third posted: "I think Princes Street is cursed."
Same day as road reopening
The incident happened on the same day the main road fully reopened, after a blaze tore through the former Debenhams building back in July. Trams and buses were able to travel up and down the street after "successful testing."
The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service and Lothian Buses have been approached for comment.
