A 40-year-old man has been arrested following a crash involving an electric motorbike that left the rider fighting for his life. The incident occurred on Inchinnan Road in Renfrew on Tuesday, April 7, when a Sur-Ron electric motorbike collided with four pedestrians.
The rider, who was taken to hospital after the 2.25pm collision, remains in a critical condition. Two women, both aged 69, sustained serious injuries and were also hospitalised. Two children, aged 10 and 11, were present but unharmed.
Police initially described the vehicle as an illegal e-bike. The motorbike was allegedly removed from the scene before officers arrived but was later traced, leading to the arrest of the 40-year-old man in connection with the crash.
Inchinnan Road was closed for approximately three hours for investigation. Police are appealing for witnesses, particularly those with dash cam or private CCTV footage, to come forward. Sergeant Martin Cunningham urged anyone with information to contact 101, quoting reference 1691 of April 7.
