The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) has banned more than 500 number plate combinations for the upcoming 76-plate release, withholding any that may cause offence, embarrassment, or are in poor taste.
UK vehicle registrations get a biannual refresh every March and September. Censors have already pulled hundreds of combinations deemed too rude for British roads.
76 plate release dates
According to AutoTrader: "From September 1, 2026, new cars will be registered with a 76 plate." It adds: "The 76 plate will apply to all new vehicles registered until February 28, 2027. September registration plates add 50 to the year number (26 + 50 = 76)."

Confirming a list of the 76 series it has suppressed, a DVLA spokesperson said: "The vast majority of registration numbers are made available, but DVLA withholds any combinations that may cause offence, embarrassment, or are in poor taste."

The full list of banned combinations includes examples such as 76 OOK, 76 YPO*F, 76 GOT*N, 76 ERR*N, 76 ERS*N, 76 ERZ*N, 76 GAA*N, 76 NOG*T, 76 NNY*W, and many more, running through a wide range of letter sequences.
Other notable entries include 76 BANTO, 76 ASHTO, 76 RABTR, 76 ANYTR, 76 NNYTU, 76 VAGTU, and 76 VAJUA, alongside combinations like 76 CHOPU, 76 OMBRA, 76 AZARA, and 76 HEDRE.
The list also contains sequences such as 76 GUNGE, 76 BOMGE, 76 MPSGE, 76 MPZGE, 76 LSDGE, 76 LEZGE, and 76 KYKGE, as well as 76 PAKGE, 76 VAGGE, 76 STDGE, and 76 VAJGE.
Further entries include 76 AY*AT, 76 KPMAW, 76 NKRBJ, 76 ALSBJ, 76 ALLBJ, 76 LOWBJ, and 76 HOTBJ, plus 76 OOBBJ, 76 OYOBJ, 76 ONKBJ, and 76 OYSBJ.
The withheld list also features 76 MUFFA, 76 ASHFA, 76 ATZFA, 76 ATSFA, 76 HAGFA, 76 GGYFA, 76 OTSFA, 76 JUWFA, and 76 OTZFA, among many others.
Combinations such as 76 AZAGO, 76 BOMGO, 76 RUSGO, 76 FWCGO, 76 FKTGO, 76 NGRGO, 76 KYKGO, and 76 JUWGO are also suppressed, alongside 76 LSDGO, 76 JEUGO, 76 HADGO, 76 PUSGO, and 76 SHTGO.
The list includes 76 NAZHH, 76 MASHH, 76 ASDHH, 76 TLRHH, 76 TEDHO, 76 BJXHO, 76 OMOHH, 76 WARHH, and 76 TESHO, as well as 76 ASHHO, 76 VAJHO, 76 COXHO, 76 CSTHO, and 76 VAGHO.
Entries like 76 CMPLE, 76 ZAXLE, 76 ZARLE, 76 ZASLE, 76 ZBOLE, 76 ZRRLE, 76 ZAZLE, 76 ZAYLE, 76 ZERLE, and 76 ZRSLE are also on the banned list.
The full list runs to more than 500 combinations, covering a wide range of letter sequences deemed inappropriate for the roads.
