A blind dog has miraculously survived a 100-foot fall from a cliff in West Bay, Dorset, made famous by the ITV drama Broadchurch. The elderly Welsh springer spaniel, named Bracyn, lost his bearings due to his lack of sight while running down a slope on a coastal path.
He inadvertently jumped off the cliff edge and plummeted 95 feet onto the beach below. Beach-goers rushed to help the injured dog and stayed with him until his owners arrived at the foot of the cliff.
Bracyn was taken to a local veterinary surgery for emergency treatment and is reported to be recovering well. A local resident commented: "It's a miracle he survived a fall like that. It's the most drama we've had here since Broadchurch."
The owners, a couple visiting from Buckinghamshire, had been walking Bracyn on a lead at the top of the cliff but decided to let him run free because he was pulling and they feared they might fall themselves.
