Investigatory drainage, clearance and capacity survey work is set to take place from next week in East Kilbride.
The work will begin on Monday, August 31, at Stewartfield Way, adjacent to James Hamilton Heritage Park, and continue to the Mavor Avenue Roundabout on the A749 Glasgow Road.
Scope of the works
The work will include the cleaning and survey of the carriageway drainage network, together with routine gully cleaning. This is expected to continue for eight weeks.
Due to the nature of these works, and to ensure the safety of both the workforce and road users, temporary traffic signals will be required at various locations throughout the works.
Schedule and traffic management
Work on Stewartfield Way will be undertaken during off-peak hours between 9.30am and 3.30pm, while works on the A749 Glasgow Road will be carried out during overnight periods between 8pm and 6am.
When operational, the temporary traffic signals will be manually controlled to help minimise disruption.

Colin Park, South Lanarkshire Council’s Head of Roads, Transportation and Fleet Services, said: “We apologise in advance for any inconvenience these works may cause.
“We would ask all road users to allow additional time for their journeys during this period and plan accordingly.
“The results of this exercise will inform the development of the Stewartfield Way Improvement project which is continuing to progress through the design and assessment stages.
“Further information will be publicised in early 2027 in relation to the project.”
