A Delta Air Lines Boeing 767-400 aircraft was forced to return to Los Angeles International Airport on Friday after its left engine caught fire shortly after take-off.
Flight 446, which was en route to Atlanta, experienced the engine issue moments after departing, with video footage from the LA Flights YouTube channel showing flames visible on the left engine.
A Delta spokesperson confirmed the incident, stating that the flight returned to Los Angeles following an indication of an issue with the aircraft's left engine. Flight trackers showed the plane circling back before landing safely at LAX.
No injuries were reported, and the aircraft was taken out of service for inspection. The airline is co-operating with aviation authorities to investigate the cause of the fire.
