CUPRA Raval: New Electric Hatchback Debuts in Munich

Munich's IAA Mobility 2023 show has been electrified by the debut of one of its most anticipated stars: the production-ready CUPRA Raval. This bold new all-electric hatchback signals the Spanish brand's aggressive push into the affordable EV market, directly taking on established favourites like the MINI Electric.

The Raval's dramatic design is more than just a styling exercise; it's a near-carbon copy of the stunning Tindaya concept car first revealed last year. CUPRA has made the audacious decision to carry over almost every radical element, from the intricate triangular LED lighting signatures at the front and rear to the deeply sculpted bodywork and aero-optimised wheels.

Power, Performance, and Range

Sitting on Volkswagen Group's cutting-edge MEB Entry platform, the Raval is poised to be a serious contender in the urban EV segment. While final UK specifications are yet to be confirmed, the prototype promises an impressive WLTP-rated range of approximately 440 kilometres (273 miles) from a single charge.

Power will be sent to the rear wheels, emphasising the car's sporty, driver-focused character that is central to the CUPRA brand identity. This setup is expected to provide the lively and engaging driving dynamics that have become a hallmark of the manufacturer's line-up.

From Barcelona to the World

The name 'Raval' is a poignant tribute to the brand's roots, drawn from a iconic and vibrant neighbourhood in Barcelona. This launch is a key milestone in CUPRA's ambitious strategy to expand its electric vehicle portfolio, which already includes the Born and the upcoming Tavascan SUV.

The Raval represents the final piece of the puzzle in CUPRA's initial electric car plan, transforming what began as the 'Urban Rebel' concept into a tangible, production-bound reality set to hit the streets and challenge the status quo.
