Central Line Part Suspended After Passenger Falls on Tracks
Central Line Part Suspended After Passenger on Tracks

The Central line is part suspended with severe delays on the rest of the line after a passenger fell on the tracks. Transport for London (TfL) confirmed that emergency services are dealing with a “casualty on the track” as of Tuesday afternoon. The extent of the disruption remains unclear.

Central Line Service Suspension

There is currently no service on the Central line between Liverpool Street and Leytonstone. Severe delays are affecting the remainder of the line. Commuters are advised to seek alternative routes or allow extra travel time.

This incident follows a separate trackside fire in south London that has also caused rail disruption. The fire near East Croydon has blocked lines, leading to delays on Thameslink services. It is the second such fire in the area in two days.

Weaver Line and Other Disruptions

The Weaver line is suspended between Hackney Downs and Chingford until Thursday due to a trackside blaze in Walthamstow, which damaged nearby homes and gardens. Additionally, a shortage of train crew has suspended services between Watford Junction and St Albans Abbey until around 3:30 pm.

At Clapham Junction, travel disruption is expected until approximately 4 pm, affecting services to Watford Junction. Trains were previously suspended due to a points failure; although lines have reopened, delays and cancellations persist.

Piccadilly and Victoria Line Delays

The Piccadilly line experienced minor delays between Acton Town and Heathrow terminals four and five due to a signal failure at Osterley, but these have since cleared. The Victoria line also saw minor delays due to train cancellations, which have now resolved.

A National Rail spokesperson commented on the East Croydon fire: “Local staff and Network Rail are dealing with a fire next to the track in the East Croydon area. As a result, fewer lines than normal are available for train running. This is to allow trains to run safely through the area, and to allow responders to combat the fire safely.”

Current Network Status

As of Tuesday afternoon, the Central line has minor delays from White City to West Ruislip and Ealing Broadway, and between Leytonstone and Epping and Hainault. The Weaver line remains suspended between Chingford and Hackney Downs with severe delays between Hackney Downs and Enfield Town. The Piccadilly and Victoria lines now have a good service.
