Cardiff drivers will face three more days of road closures and diversions this week as the Welsh capital hosts a series of major music gigs. On Tuesday, June 30, and Wednesday, July 1, Scottish singer Lewis Capaldi will perform at Blackweir Live. June 30 will also see Katy Perry perform at Cardiff Castle. On Saturday, July 4, Pitbull will take the stage at Blackweir Live, while Bowling For Soup will perform at the castle on the same day.
Road Closures for Blackweir Live
The following roads will be closed between 4pm and midnight for the Lewis Capaldi and Pitbull gigs on June 30, July 1, and July 4:
- Duke Street and Kingsway in their entirety
- Castle Street throughout its length, from the junction with Westgate Street
- North Road from the junction with Colum Road down to Boulevard De Nantes; and Boulevard De Nantes to the junction with Park Place (buses will be granted access via Park Place / Boulevard De Nantes and onto The Friary to gain access to Greyfriars Road)
- Cowbridge Road East from Cathedral Road through to the junction with Westgate Street, with access to Westgate Street permitted
Access to part of the Civic Centre will be controlled throughout the day from 7am. Roads affected include King Edward VII Avenue, Museum Avenue, City Hall Road, College Road, and Gorsedd Gardens Road. The right-hand turn from Colum Road into Corbett Road will also be suspended during the closure times to manage access for residents and businesses off Corbett Road.
Katy Perry and Bowling For Soup at Cardiff Castle
For the Katy Perry concert on June 30 and Bowling For Soup on July 4, Castle Street will close half an hour before the events end and reopen when the crowds disperse. North Road, Castle Street, Westgate Street, and Cowbridge Road East along the River Taff will be accessible to buses, residents, and traders only during the closures.
