Cardiff Queen Street station will close for three days from Saturday, July 25, to Monday, July 27, while National Rail staff carry out engineering works. No trains will run to or from the station during this period.
Services Affected
All train services to Cardiff Bay are cancelled, but pre-purchased tickets will be accepted on Cardiff Bus services. A rail replacement shuttle bus will run between Cardiff Central, Cardiff Queen Street, and Cardiff Bay during early mornings and late evenings on Saturday and Monday, and only in the late evening on Sunday.
All Coryton services are cancelled for the three days, with tickets accepted on Cardiff Bus. Penarth services will not run on Saturday or Monday, but will operate on Sunday.
Replacement Buses and Diversions
Rail replacement buses will operate between Cardiff Central and Radyr, calling at Llandaf, Cathays, and Cardiff Queen Street. Services between Rhymney and Cardiff Central will be replaced by buses. Treherbert, Merthyr Tydfil, and Aberdare services will be diverted via the city line between Cardiff Central and Radyr.
Trains between Bridgend and Barry Island to Rhymney will still run but will start and end at Cardiff Central.
Transport for Wales has urged passengers to check their routes and plan ahead, warning that buses may be busier than normal and advising extra time for journeys. Details of pick-up and drop-off locations for bus replacements are available on the Transport for Wales website.
