A Cardiff Bus vehicle burst into flames in a village on the outskirts of the city on Saturday morning, with all passengers evacuated safely.
Emergency services were called to the incident involving the bus in Pentyrch. Police asked members of the public to avoid the area while firefighters worked to bring the blaze under control.
Flames and smoke visible from the scene
Pictures taken from the scene after flames started billowing from the bus in the middle of the road on Heol Gogh at around 9.45am show orange flames riding high above the vehicle. Thick plumes of black smoke could be seen for miles around.
A spokeswoman for the fire service confirmed all passengers were evacuated safely, and the fire has now been extinguished.
Fire crews respond
Two crews were sent, from Whitchurch and Pontypridd, along with an officer. Two hose reel jets and two breathing apparatus were used to bring the fire under control.
Police also attended the scene and asked people to avoid Heol Goch due to the incident.
"Please avoid the area and use alternative routes where possible. Thank you for your patience," a spokesman said.
