A TikTok video has left drivers astonished after revealing the true purpose of a small button on car mirrors. The clip, posted by user chequanxiaoqiao, explains that the feature is an anti-glare mechanism, known to only about five per cent of drivers.
In the video, she demonstrates how pressing the button, often resembling a small wrench, activates the anti-glare function. This reduces the dazzle from headlights of vehicles behind, making night-time driving safer. The auto-dimming mechanism has been added to many modern cars but remains largely unknown.
Since its upload, the video has amassed over 800,000 views, sparking a flurry of comments. Some viewers expressed shock, with one saying: 'Wait a minute. You mean to tell me there was an anti-glare function all the nights I nearly drove off the road.' Others claimed they already knew the trick, urging less aware drivers to brush up on their theory.
