One person was taken to hospital after a crash involving a car and a bus on the A686 in west Northumberland on Wednesday afternoon. The incident occurred near the Langley Castle Hotel, on the A686 between the B6295 and the hotel, just south of Haydon Bridge.
Emergency response
The emergency services, including the Great North Air Ambulance Service, attended the scene. The incident was reported at around 3.35pm on Wednesday. Traffic monitoring showed the A686 was closed in both directions for several hours due to the incident, which had "a bus and a car involved". It is understood that the casualty was not on the bus.
Hospital treatment
A North East Ambulance Service spokesperson said: "We were called to a road traffic incident on the A686 in Haydon Bridge at 15:35 on Wednesday 30 September 2026. We dispatched two ambulance crews, one clinical team leader and supported by Great North Air Ambulance (GNAAS). One patient was taken to RVI hospital by road for further treatment."
