A 13-year-old boy has been taken to hospital following a collision between an e-scooter and a stationary car in Liverpool on Sunday, June 14. Merseyside Police confirmed that emergency services responded to a 'serious collision' in Anfield at around 1:35pm.
Police have cordoned off Oakfield Road in both directions from St Domingo Grove/Robarts Road to Houlding Street. A police cordon remains in place on Oakfield Road, Anfield.
Emergency Services Respond
A statement from Merseyside Police reads: 'Emergency services are in Anfield following a serious collision this afternoon, Sunday 14 June. At around 1.35pm, we were called to Oakfield Road, opposite the junction of Hawkesworth Street, to reports of a collision involving an electric scooter and a stationary car.'
'The scooter rider, a 13-year-old boy, was taken by ambulance to hospital for the assessment of serious injuries. Officers remain in the area carrying out house-to-house, CCTV and other enquiries to establish the circumstances.'
Road Closures and Diversions
Road closures are in place between the junctions of Oakfield Road with Kemp Avenue and Oakfield Road with St Domingo Vale. Motorists are asked to avoid the area while police continue their work.
Merseytravel has confirmed diversions are in place due to the crash. A spokesperson said there is 'no timescale' for how long the diversions will last. On X, the travel network stated: 'Diversions are in place on the @arrivanorthwest 26 & 27 services due to an RTC outside Anfield stadium. The buses are diverting via Breck Rd and St Domingo Rd in both directions. We have no timescale for this, at present. Please allow more time for your journey.'
