A 12-year-old boy was taken to hospital with a fractured skull after falling from an e-scooter in Darlington. The incident occurred on Sunday afternoon near Firthmoor Community Centre on Burnside Road.
Emergency Response
Emergency services, including the air ambulance, were called just after 3pm. The child was treated for head and facial injuries before being taken to the Royal Victoria Infirmary (RVI) in Newcastle by road ambulance.
A Durham Constabulary spokesperson said: "We were called to reports of a one-vehicle road traffic collision involving an e-scooter in Burnside Road, Darlington, just after 3pm on Sunday, July 26. The rider, a 12-year-old boy, suffered a fractured skull and was taken to the Royal Victoria Infirmary. The illegal e-scooter was seized."
Medical and Air Ambulance Details
A spokesperson for North East Ambulance Service (NEAS) said they dispatched two ambulance crews, a clinical team leader and a doctor in a rapid response car, who treated the patient before conveying him to hospital with the doctor in a land ambulance.
The Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS) said their critical care team was activated at 3.37pm and arrived on scene at 3.51pm. A paramedic and doctor on board assessed and treated the patient, who was then taken to hospital by a NEAS road crew accompanied by the GNAAS team.
