An 11-year-old boy has suffered serious, life-changing injuries after falling between a tram and the platform at a Metrolink stop in Wythenshawe, south Manchester. The incident occurred at the Crossacres stop on Brownley Road at approximately 3:40pm on Tuesday.
Emergency services, including an air ambulance, police, firefighters, and paramedics, attended the scene. Greater Manchester Police said the boy was struck by the tram as it began to move off from the stop. He remains in hospital in a stable condition.
A cordon was established on Brownley Road and surrounding streets as investigations began. Tram services to Manchester Airport were suspended for most of the evening while police worked at the site.
