The RMT union expressed deep concern, stating: “We are deeply concerned by reports of a train collision between Bedford and Luton and the serious injuries sustained by on-board train staff and passengers.”

Bedford Hospital has declared an “all hands on deck” situation and is preparing to treat at least 50 casualties, as reported by The Times.

East Midlands Railway announced they are “unable to run in or out of” London St Pancras for the rest of the day and urged customers not to travel this evening. Bedfordshire Police have asked relatives and friends of the injured not to travel to the scene.
