Beau Reus agrees Hearts transfer as Dutch keeper set for Tynecastle

Hearts have agreed terms with Dutch goalkeeper Beau Reus, who is set to become the club's 11th summer signing. The 6ft 6in shotstopper is expected to be confirmed within the next 24 hours and will attend tonight's friendly against Rayo Vallecano at Tynecastle.

Reus joins as free agent after Belgian success

Reus, a free agent after leaving SK Beveren, helped the club win the Belgian second division unbeaten last season. He was also pursued by Auxerre and Werder Bremen, but Record Sport understands that Reus has been at Hearts' training base at the Oriam this week to finalise personal terms and complete the switch to Edinburgh.

Competition for number one shirt

The Dutch keeper will compete for the starting spot just 24 hours after Hearts legend Craig Gordon announced his retirement at the age of 43. Liam McFarlane is set to be loaned out to Partick Thistle, leaving Reus, Alexander Schwolow, Zander Clark, and Ryan Fulton to vie for the number one shirt in Gorgie.

Reus is known to Hearts manager Wouter Vrancken from his time in Belgium, which facilitated the move. The 24-year-old's arrival marks another addition to a busy summer transfer window for the Jambos.
