Aldi is bringing back its popular wooden toy range next month, with new items including a mini BBQ, covered sandpit, outdoor easel, and messy play picnic bench. The collection will land in stores on Sunday May 17 as part of the Specialbuys line-up, with prices starting from £9.99.
The £34.99 mud kitchen, featuring a bread oven, washing up rack, double burner stove top and utensil holders, is expected to be a standout favourite. Last October, the range caused 'carnage' in stores, with customers queuing before opening time and sharing clips of crowded aisles on social media.
Aldi is also launching a competition to find its first ever wooden toy tester, open to children aged three and above. Parents or carers can enter by sending a one-minute video to woodentoytester@aldi.co.uk before the May 5 deadline, explaining why their child would be perfect for the role.
Julie Ashfield, chief commercial officer at Aldi UK, said: 'The nation’s love for our Wooden Toy range is undeniable and our littlest shoppers are our most important critics.' The successful applicant will receive a selection of the summer wooden toy range for free in return for feedback on performance and fun factor.
