Major Cornwall Road Shut After Evening Collision

A serious road traffic collision involving three vehicles, one of which was a marked police car, has forced the complete closure of the A30 in Cornwall this evening. The incident occurred at approximately 8:30 pm on Saturday, December 7th, 2025, near Connor Downs, close to Hayle.

Emergency Services Scramble to the Scene

Devon and Cornwall Police confirmed that a number of people have been injured and are receiving treatment from ambulance crews. A significant emergency service presence, described by one witness as including around a dozen police cars and half a dozen ambulances, descended on the area near Hayle Rugby Club and the Loggans Moor roundabout.

In an official statement, the force said: "Emergency services are currently at the scene of a serious collision involving three vehicles on the A30 at Connor Downs, West Cornwall. A number of people are believed to be injured and are being treated by ambulance services."

Road Closures and Traffic Chaos

As a result of the crash, a full road closure has been implemented in both directions. The closure points are at the St Erth Roundabout and at the Hayle bypass to allow emergency crews to work safely and for initial investigations to take place.

Traffic is being turned around, causing significant disruption on one of Cornwall's main arterial routes. An eyewitness at the scene told reporters, "The road is now closed. It looks fair bad." The extent of the damage and the precise circumstances leading to the collision remain under investigation by police.

Motorists are being urged to avoid the area entirely and to seek alternative routes while the closure remains in effect. No estimates for the reopening of the carriageway have been provided at this early stage.
