Major A19 Road Closure Following Serious Collision
A major UK road is facing closure for several hours after a serious collision prompted a large-scale emergency response. The A19 in Tyne and Wear has been closed in both directions, causing significant disruption for morning commuters.
National Highways confirmed the closure is in place between the A1018/B1404 junction near Seaham and the A690 near New Herrington. The incident was first reported late on Monday evening, with Durham Police attending the scene shortly after 11:30pm.
Emergency Services Response
Durham Police were the first to arrive at the location of the serious road traffic collision, initially closing the northbound carriageway. Shortly afterwards, the southbound carriageway was also closed to allow emergency crews to work safely.
