39 postcode areas including Newcastle and Northumberland hit by Royal Mail delays

Nearly 40 postcode areas across the UK are being warned of Royal Mail delivery delays on Monday, July 27, 2026. Northumberland and Newcastle locations, including Ashington, Blyth, and Gosforth, are among the places affected.

Royal Mail updates its website daily with the areas that may be experiencing disruption. Delays may be caused due to a number of reasons, including sickness absence, resourcing, or other factors. Royal Mail says it rotates deliveries to minimise the delay to individual customers.

It states: "We aim to deliver to all addresses we have mail for, six days a week. In a small number of local offices, this may temporarily not be possible due to local issues such as high levels of sick absence, resourcing, or other local factors. In those cases, we will rotate deliveries to minimise the delay to individual customers. We also provide targeted support to those offices to address their challenges and restore our service to the high standard our customers would normally receive."
