Man Utd Could Offload Five Players to AC Milan, Giving Ruben Amorim Dream Reunion
Man Utd Could Sell Five to AC Milan for Amorim Reunion

Manchester United could be offered a helping hand by their former boss, as Ruben Amorim is set to return to management with AC Milan. The Portuguese tactician is poised to take over at the San Siro after a disastrous stint at Old Trafford, where United recorded their lowest-ever Premier League finish and lost the Europa League final to Tottenham. Amorim arrived in England with promise after impressing at Sporting, but his tenure unraveled quickly, leading to his sacking in January after just over a year in charge.

While his time at United was largely a disaster, there were still some players he enjoyed working with. Ahead of his announcement as Milan boss, Express Sport highlights five United stars he could target for a reunion.

Diogo Dalot

One of the most used players under Amorim, Diogo Dalot was a key cog in his system and appeared to grasp it better than many others. Dalot is entering the final two years of his contract, and United are said to be targeting full-backs this summer. Amorim joining Milan could be the perfect opportunity for United to sell and for Dalot to reunite with his former boss.

Matthijs de Ligt

What looked like a fantastic coup when United signed him has turned into a nightmare. De Ligt was not seen in the second half of the season due to a back injury, and he is not expected to stick around at Old Trafford much longer, with a move this summer being touted.

Amad

One of the brightest sparks from Amorim's time as United boss, Amad came of age under the much-maligned coach. However, things have not been the same under Michael Carrick, with the Ivorian seeing his minutes reduced and starting opportunities dwindle. Whether via a loan to reboot his career or a permanent transfer, Amorim should try to bring Amad to the San Siro.

Manuel Ugarte

While not technically signed by him, Manuel Ugarte was known to Amorim from their time at Sporting. But it has not worked out for the Uruguayan in the Premier League, as his play style is not suited to England's top flight. It might be more transferable to the slower, less intense Serie A, making a move to Milan sensible for Ugarte.

Joshua Zirkzee

Joshua Zirkzee is another player on United's for-sale list, having joined in the summer of 2024. While not an automatic starter under Amorim, the Dutch international enjoyed some positive moments, netting eight times for the 20-time champions under his tutelage. Moreover, Zirkzee made a name for himself in Serie A with Bologna, so he knows how to shine in that league.
