Aberdeen are closing in on a deal for Marius Muller from Wolfsburg. The Dons are in talks with the experienced German keeper and hope the 33-year-old will arrive in Scotland later this week for a medical and to sign a contract.
Experienced Bundesliga Goalkeeper
Muller is well-known to Aberdeen sporting director Lutz Pfannestiel. The keeper has a wealth of Bundesliga experience, having come through the ranks at Kaiserslautern and moved on to RB Leipzig. He then had four years in Switzerland with Luzern before returning to Germany with Schalke 04. He has been at Wolfsburg for the last two seasons and is keen to get back playing regularly.
Competition for Mitov
Stephen Robinson wants another goalkeeper to challenge current No. 1 Dimitar Mitov. Nick Suman is the current back-up, after Norwegian international Per Kristian Bratveit terminated his contract in the summer. The Aberdeen boss has been the busiest in the top-flight, having already signed 10 players this summer. The capture of Muller would take that to an entire starting XI.
Robinson's Busy Summer
Robinson's new-look side got off to winning ways with a win at Brora Rangers in the Premier Sports Cup on Tuesday evening. He is still looking to add another full-back and a winger. He could look to add further if he can get more of his squad players out. Marko Lazetic, Topi Keskinen and Alexander Jensen have both been sold, and Nicolas Milanovic will complete his move back to Western Sydney Wanderers in the coming days. The winger is back in Australia but is waiting for his former club to push the button on the deal. The Dons have agreed a deal that will see them recoup some of the £400,000 they paid WSW to land him last summer. There is also interest in Croatian midfielder Ante Palaversa.
