World’s Largest Cruise Ship Legend of the Seas Sets Sail This Summer
World’s Largest Cruise Ship Legend of the Seas Debuts July 4

The world's largest cruise ship is preparing for its maiden voyage this summer, featuring Broadway shows, 28 restaurants, and the largest waterpark ever built on a vessel. The Legend of the Seas, a new addition to Royal Caribbean's fleet, will debut on July 4 after two years of construction in Finland.

Massive Waterpark and Thrilling Attractions

The ship boasts Category 6, the biggest waterpark at sea, with six slides and seven pools, including a swim-up bar. The Frightening Bolt is the tallest waterslide on any cruise ship. For the adventurous, the Crown's Edge obstacle course offers ocean views, while the FlowRider surf simulator provides wave-riding excitement.

Entertainment and Ice Skating

Absolute Zero, the world's largest ice skating arena at sea, is another highlight. A 20.4-square-metre screen on the pool deck will show live sports and movies. The ship also features a 12-metre-long surf simulator with 100,000 litres of water.

Itineraries and Pricing

Seven-night cruises from Barcelona start at £1,176 per person, while Rome departures begin at £1,203. Both itineraries visit Palma de Mallorca, Provence, Florence, Rome, and Naples. A 13-night transatlantic cruise from Barcelona to Florida on October 31, 2027, starts at £1,115 per person. In November, the ship will offer Western and Southern Caribbean cruises from Fort Lauderdale.

Future Plans and Comparisons

Meanwhile, the concept of a 'city at sea' called Freedom Ship, proposed nearly 30 years ago, could accommodate 80,000 passengers and 50,000 permanent residents, circumnavigating the globe every two years. It would include schools, banks, offices, and a research hospital.
