Whitby Named UK's Most Popular Staycation Destination for School Holidays

The coastal town of Whitby in North Yorkshire has been crowned the UK's most popular staycation destination for the school summer holidays, according to new booking data from Sykes Holiday Cottages.

Known for its child-friendly attractions, including the Whitby Museum and the town's historic abbey, as well as its sandy beaches, Whitby topped the list of the 10 most booked destinations for a school summer break.

Windermere in the Lake District and Weymouth on the Dorset coast rounded out the top three locations, offering outdoor adventures, bustling town centres, and a variety of walking trails.

Ambleside placed fourth, providing easy access to scenic walking and cycling routes for the whole family, with Lyme Regis ranking fifth. The Dorset destination, nestled on the Jurassic Coast, continues to charm visitors with its fossil-strewn beaches and colourful promenade.

The top 10 list also includes other popular spots, with properties in each location offering unique features such as sea views, historic charm, and proximity to local attractions.
