The Asian Catering Federation (ACF) has revealed its list of the UK's Top 100 Curry Restaurants, with 21 London establishments making the cut. Notably, none of the chosen venues are located on the famous Brick Lane, traditionally associated with curry houses.
The London winners are spread across the capital, including Soho, Holborn, Westminster, Tooting, and Perivale. Malaysian restaurant Laksamania in Soho took the gold medal, boasting a 4.4 out of 5 star rating on Google. Its menu features dishes such as satay chicken, wasabi prawns, and duck rolls.
One delighted customer commented: "Easily one of the best nasi lemak in town. The dish is beautifully plated, with fragrant coconut rice, perfectly spicy sambal, and all the classic elements done just right. Every bite tastes authentic and comforting, like a proper homemade version but elevated. A place that truly respects the dish - I’ll definitely be coming back."
Yawar Khan, Chair of the Asian Catering Federation, said: "This event is about celebrating excellence across the hospitality sector, putting the diverse Asian community on one platform, and recognising chefs, restaurants, and industry leaders who continue to set the benchmark for quality, innovation and consistency across the Asian food industry in the UK."
He added: "Over the past year, the sector has continued to navigate rising costs, evolving consumer expectations, and ongoing economic pressures. Yet, despite all this, they remain resilient, continuously adapting, innovating, and finding new ways to connect with their customers."
The awards, which began in 2022, are determined by public vote and recommendations from the ACF's panel of curry experts. Presenters at the ceremony included BBC news anchor Samantha Simmonds, Liberal Democrat MP Sarah Olney, and representatives from the Malaysian High Commission.
