A British man who has visited over 50 European cities has revealed his picks for the most underrated destinations on the continent. Scott, who shares his travel insights on Instagram (@scottvisits), has compiled a ranking of what he considers the best and most underrated cities in Europe.
Taking the top spot is Ljubljana, the capital of Slovenia. Scott describes it as the 'cleanest, safest' and 'most unreal place', calling it a 'true hidden gem that you must visit' with 'no crowds'. The accolade places Slovenia in the spotlight, with two of its locations featuring in the top five.
In second place is Tivat, a seaside town in Montenegro, which Scott dubs 'the budget version of Monaco'. He praises the 'ultimate luxury location' for having 'so much to see and do', noting its multimillion-dollar harbour often filled with superyachts. Third is Bled, also in Slovenia, which Scott calls a 'real life fairytale' and 'one of the most peaceful places in the world', famous for its lake and island church.
Rounding out the top five are Ksamil in Albania, described as 'The European Maldives on a budget' with 'the most beautiful coastline', and Annecy in France, which Scott dubs the 'Venice of the Alps' for its cobblestone lanes and perfect lakes. Mostar in Bosnia and Herzegovina ranks sixth, known for the iconic Stari Most bridge, which Scott calls the 'most breathtaking world heritage site'.
