Thousands of free parking spots confirmed for Liverpool

Thousands of free parking spots are becoming available in Liverpool. Shoppers can make the most of 2,000 free travel and parking tickets, alongside rail, bus and ferry offers, in the four Sundays before Christmas.

Get In! initiative funded by Liverpool BID

Get In! is funded and organised by Liverpool Business Improvement District (BID) to make festive journeys into the city centre more affordable, helping shoppers support local businesses while keeping Christmas costs down.

Bill Addy, CEO of Liverpool BID, said: “We represent over 865 businesses across Liverpool city centre and we know how important Christmas is.

“It’s the biggest time of the year for high streets and hospitality, and after a tough few years a lot of our smaller businesses are really relying on that crucial Q4 period.

“Yet we know a lot of households are facing the pressure of cost-of-living. Get In! is designed to make that squeeze a little easier. Christmas shopping often means relying on the car, especially if you’re buying big purchases, but these parking deals will make it a little more affordable.

“Our great partners at Liverpool City Region, Merseyrail and Stagecoach are also supporting offers on public transport, to make it as easy as possible to make the most of the festive season and get into town.”

Ticket details and dates

A total of 500 free travel and parking tickets will be available each Sunday in the four weeks before Christmas, with tickets available to book from 10am on Friday, November 20 via the Liverpool BID Company website.

Liverpool BID has teamed up with Liverpool City Region Combined Authority, Merseyrail, Stagecoach, Liverpool City Council, St Johns Shopping Centre and city centre car parks to offer free or discounted travel and parking.

The 500 tickets available each Sunday will cover the following dates:

  • Sunday, November 29

Christmas lights funding

Meanwhile, Liverpool city centre’s Christmas lights will be switched on Thursday, November 12.

More than 85% of Liverpool’s Christmas lights are funded by Liverpool Business Improvement District, with businesses investing more than £1.2 million in festive lights across the city centre over the past five years.
