Tenby, a seaside town on the Pembrokeshire Coast, has been named the "most beautiful" place to visit in the UK by travel experts at Time Out. The publication's list of the 23 most beautiful places to visit in the UK placed the Welsh town at the top, ahead of castles, glens and cathedrals.
Why Tenby tops the list
Time Out Travel Editor Grace Beard described the town as "a halcyon dream of the Great British Seaside." She highlighted its Georgian and Victorian townhouses painted in "baby blues, buttery yellows and pale pinks," along with golden beaches and thirteenth-century medieval town walls, which she noted are "some of the best-preserved in the UK."
Beard also recommended exploring the town's "exciting food scene," suggesting Welsh cakes from Loafley, small plates at The Mews on Upper Frog Street, and local dishes including freshly caught mackerel and lobster at The Baytree.
Attractions and independent shops
Tenby is known for its 13th-century town walls, a draw for history lovers, as well as its sandy beaches. According to TripAdvisor, the top attraction in the town is The Dinosaur Park, followed by Heatherton World of Activities and Manor Wildlife Park. Other highlights include Tenby Castle Beach, Tudor Merchant's House and Tenby Lifeboat Station.
The town also has a range of independent businesses, such as Boho Beach House, which sells clothes and jewellery, The Nook for gifts, Tenby Indoor Market for food, and Llewellyn's Gallery for art.
