Families and friends have been enjoying a hot and sunny day at The Hoppings on Newcastle's Town Moor, with temperatures soaring above 20°C throughout the week. The annual event, often plagued by wet weather, has seen a scorcher this year.
World's Tallest Travelling Ride Debuts
Among the attractions is the new Elevate 85, described as the tallest travelling ride in the world. From carousel rides to hook-a-duck, there is something for everyone at The Hoppings, despite the site being 30% smaller this year due to ongoing drainage works.
Future-Proofing the Site
The drainage works are intended to 'future-proof' the site for the return of a full-scale fair in years to come. The Hoppings will be open daily from 1pm at weekends and 2pm mid-week, until 11pm, except on the final day, June 28, when it will close at 7pm.
Paul Jenkinson and his daughter Elizabeth, four, were among those enjoying the sunny afternoon. Other visitors included Tommy Walton, four, Alfie Boagey, three, Willow Simpson, two, and Cece, four, with her Grandad Graham.
