A holidaymaker in Tenerife has been filmed sprinting to secure seven poolside loungers at once, sparking further debate over the notorious 'sunbed wars' at resorts.
The incident took place at the Parque Santiago III hotel, where the man was seen dashing to lay out towels on seven sunbeds before returning to his room. The footage, set to the 'Chariots of Fire' theme, was captured by Jeff Hunter, a 36-year-old chef from Northern Ireland.
Hunter described the behaviour as 'insane', noting that there were 'hundreds' of available beds at the time. He said the man queues from around 8:30am for the pool opening at 9am, and each day stands in a runner's stance before sprinting to claim the same beds.
The incident echoes previous reports of holidaymakers going to extreme lengths for prime sunbeds, including a couple in Portugal who sneaked down at 1am to reserve spots.
