Shanklin outshines other sunny spots, including Folkestone in Kent, which came second with 44 fewer hours of sunshine. The town's favourable climate is attributed to its location on the Isle of Wight, off England's south coast, a region known for its sunny weather, seafront promenades, and beach huts. Queen Victoria was known to retreat there regularly.
Shanklin is a well-established holiday destination on the south-east coast of the island, offering a sandy beach, amusement arcades, and a variety of shops.
