Newcastle's only dedicated country music bar, Ruby Rae's, is set to open a second venue in the historic city of York, following its overwhelming success in the North East.
The bar, which opened in what was formerly The Empress in Newcastle city centre last summer, has become one of the busiest spots in town every weekend, attracting crowds of country music fans who don cowboy hats, enjoy line dancing, and soak up live music. Its reputation grew so quickly that singers from the United States began traveling to perform there, fulfilling the owner's ambition to bring a taste of Nashville to Newcastle.
New Location Confirmed
On Sunday night, Ruby Rae's social media channels confirmed York as the location for its second bar. The announcement followed a guessing game where followers were asked to choose from Edinburgh, Durham, and York. The official Instagram post read: "A brand new city will soon be home to a Ruby Rae’s bar where we hope we’ll find a whole new family of live music loving country fans. We’re heading to…one of the most iconic & most loved cities in the country. Dripping in history and perfect for our anticipated crowd - YORK IS GETTING A RUBY RAE'S."
Details Still Pending
The exact location and opening date of the new Ruby Rae's in York have yet to be announced. However, given that York is less than an hour by train from Newcastle, the new venue offers an easy day trip for country music enthusiasts.
