A penthouse with a 100ft private balcony overlooking Lord's Cricket Ground has been put on the market for £10 million. The Lord's View Penthouse, offering what is described as one of the best sporting views in the world, is being sold for the first time.
The property features a private terrace and viewing lounge that directly overlooks the wicket at the historic ground. All proceeds from the sale will go to the Launan Charitable Trust, established by the late owner Laurence Silman and his wife Nancy.
Mr Silman, an MCC life member, conceived the penthouse after acquiring the unfinished upper level from a bankrupt developer. He worked with architect and designer Max Clendinning, whose past commissions included Christian Dior and Liberty London, to transform the space into a private area for watching cricket and entertaining guests.
Robert Silman, Laurence's brother, said: 'Laurence saw something in that unfinished rooftop that nobody else did: a place to bring together the people he loved, around the game he loved.' He added that releasing the property now felt like the right moment, with the charitable element ensuring something built around cricket gives back to the game.
A charity spokesperson said: 'The decision to link this sale to funding for amateur cricket sends a powerful signal. The idea that a private terrace over Lord's can help sustain nets, pitches and coaching sessions across the country speaks to cricket's capacity to connect very different worlds.'
The property is being sold via a confidential sealed bid process closing on July 31. The sale coincides with Lord's preparing for one of its busiest summers, featuring a full programme of men's internationals and major women's global tournaments.
