The Northern Belle, described as the UK's most luxurious train, will arrive in Newcastle on November 7. The train, once branded "the Grand Dame of luxury travel" by Love Actually star Bill Nighy, will head north to Edinburgh for a Christmas shopping trip.
Tickets for the day trip cost £495. The journey will include pick-ups in York, Darlington and Newcastle Central Station. Passengers will have time to explore Edinburgh's historic Royal Mile, browse the shops of Princes Street, and warm up with a glass of malt whisky in one of the old town's atmospheric pubs.
On-board experience
The red carpet will be rolled out at all three stations, with passengers handed a Sparkling Mimosa or signature Bloody Mary as a welcome drink. A three-course brunch will be served on the outward journey before arriving in Edinburgh.
After a few hours in the city, passengers will receive a champagne welcome back on board, with a signature cocktail and small-bite pairing and caviar blinis.
Six-course dinner and live entertainment
Passengers will then be served a six-course dinner: a British seasonal table d'hôte menu featuring an award-winning Great British cheeseboard with port, a dessert, and a selection of petits fours. Live entertainment will be provided throughout the carriages.
A spokesperson for the Northern Belle commented: "Edinburgh is always one of our favourite destinations, especially in the run-up to Christmas. It's a marvellous place to do a bit of festive shopping. And there is also the opportunity for passengers to visit the late Queen Elizabeth's Royal Yacht Britannia at nearby Leith."
