A 'Hobbit' style hideaway nestled inside grassy mounds on the outskirts of Mallwyd near Dinas Mawddwy, North Wales, is available to book via Sykes Cottages. The fairytale-style accommodation boasts 'stunning' views of the Snowdonia mountains and consists of two individual huts, ideal for two couples or a family of four.

Hut features and amenities

The single-storey huts have one king bedroom each with an open-plan living space, a kitchen, dining area, sitting area, and sofa bed. Each hut has a shower room and central heating inside, and outside is a private garden with sheltered decking, furniture, and a wood-fired hot tub.

Local dining and coastal trips

If you fancy a meal out, The Brigands Inn in Mallwyd offers hearty meals and crisp, local ale. Or, venture slightly further afield to coastal Aberdovey (Aberdyfi), where a beach and local golf club await. Further along the coast is Tywyn and Barmouth.

One guest at the Nant y Garnedd huts said as part of a longer five star review: "This was our second stay at Nant Y Garnedd … such a quirky little “Hobbit Home” in Gwynedd. We loved it so much the first time we came again!"

"Very compact yet has all the facilities you'd expect in a larger accommodation, a sitting area, very small but well thought out bathroom, separate bedroom and a small but very well equipped little kitchen area. I cooked on two nights and found this easy to do and once I’d got to grips with the cooker. There are places to eat but quite a drive from the home. We used the hot tub this time and enjoyed it but probably wouldn’t do that again (personal choice, not hot tub people). You can’t fault the view!! It’s fantastic, miles of stunning Countryside visible from the porthole type windows and door with the added attraction of the sheep who visited daily!"
