Mum Cuts Short Butlins Holiday After 'Grimy' and 'Damp' Room

A family holiday at Butlin's Skegness resort ended after just one night when a mother discovered her accommodation was 'grimy', 'damp' and in need of 'a massive deep clean'. Jasmine, who shared her experience on TikTok, said the state of the 'comfort room' was so bad that she refused to shower there and instead used the swimming pool facilities.

In her video, Jasmine documented multiple issues, including grime in the shower and bin, mould on the windows, cobwebs on the walls, and a dead bug on the bed. She described the smell as 'absolutely wild' and said the beds were so damp that her daughter asked why they were wet. The family left after one night, with Jasmine adding that her daughter got 'poo on her hand' as they departed.

Jasmine acknowledged that booking the wrong room type was 'not Butlin's fault at all', but insisted the cleanliness was a result of insufficient turnaround time. 'These rooms need massive deep cleans because a quick once over is not going to help,' she said. She praised the resort's activities but said it was 'a shame about the room'.

Responding to The Mirror, a Butlin's spokesperson said: 'We're sorry and disappointed to see the cleanliness issues the guest experienced with their accommodation. This certainly isn't the high standards we expect our guests to receive when they holiday with us. We carried out a full reclean and offered a gesture of goodwill which was accepted.'

Other holidaymakers shared mixed reactions in the comments, with one claiming their room was even worse, while another said they had never encountered such issues at the Skegness resort.
