Manchester Christmas Markets have officially opened for 2026, marking the start of the seasonal calendar with ten locations across the city hosting festive stalls, Gluhwein, wooden chalets and German bratwurst.
Locations and returning favourites
Now considered one of the biggest events of its kind in the country, the markets will take over St Ann's Square, Market Street and New Cathedral Street, with stalls also returning to Albert Square after a successful comeback last year following a six-year absence.
Albert Square will once again be home to the Big Wheel, which stands at 50 metres high, as well as a large Helter Skelter popular with children. The space outside the Town Hall will also feature the giant 'Zippy' Santa, made up of 20,000 twinkling LED lights, returning after a nine-year gap.
New additions for 2026
A new addition to this year's set-up is Lincoln Square, near Albert Square, which joins the festivities with its own food and drink-focused market featuring returning favourites and new names.
Among those taking part this year are the popular Porky Pig, Mr Crimble Crumble and Oi Dumplings, as well as last year's viral hits Misu Tiramisu and Hong Kong French Toast. New additions include baking stations from the Flat Baker and a molten cheese fondue served inside a sourdough bread bowl.
Updates on the markets as they officially get underway for 2026 will be shared in a live blog.
