Malaysia is rolling out a series of measures to revitalise its tourism sector, including visa-free entry for travellers from China and India, as well as extended stays for visitors from the Middle East.
Visa-Free Entry to Attract More Tourists
The Malaysian government has announced that citizens of China and India will no longer need a visa to visit the country for stays of up to 30 days. This move is expected to significantly boost tourist arrivals from these key markets.
Extended Stay for Middle Eastern Visitors
In addition, tourists from the Middle East will benefit from an extended visa duration, allowing them to stay in Malaysia for up to 90 days. This initiative aims to attract high-spending visitors and strengthen economic ties with the region.
Tourism Recovery Post-Pandemic
Malaysia's tourism industry has been recovering steadily since the pandemic, with international arrivals reaching 9.16 million in the first half of 2023. The government is targeting 18 million tourist arrivals by the end of the year, generating an estimated RM60 billion in revenue.
Enhanced Flight Connectivity
To support this growth, Malaysia is also working on increasing flight connectivity. Airlines such as AirAsia and Malaysia Airlines are expanding their routes, making it easier for travellers to visit popular destinations like Kuala Lumpur, Penang, and Langkawi.
With these strategic measures, Malaysia is positioning itself as a top travel destination in Southeast Asia, offering convenience and diverse experiences for international visitors.
