EasyJet has issued guidance for passengers to help them pack with confidence amid varying hand luggage rules across airlines in 2024. The airline reminds travellers that the 100ml liquid restriction remains in place at UK airports after the government missed its June 2024 deadline to scrap the rule. All liquids and gels in hand luggage must be in containers no larger than 100ml, placed in a single transparent resealable bag measuring 20cm x 20cm.
Passengers can bring food into the cabin, but liquid foods such as soup or custard must be in containers of 100ml or less and in clear bags. Hot drinks purchased airside with a lid are permitted. Baby food, milk, and sterilised water are exempt from the 100ml limit, provided the total does not exceed one litre, and security may ask you to taste them.
Alcohol bought after security can be taken onboard if unopened and under 70% ABV, but consuming your own alcohol on the plane is strictly forbidden and could lead to prosecution. Cigarettes are allowed in cabin bags, but passengers must check destination limits on quantity. Lighters may be carried in a pocket, but matches are banned. E-cigarettes are permitted with a maximum of two spare batteries in cabin bags only; recharging or vaping onboard is prohibited.
Sharp objects such as tweezers, scissors with rounded ends, and blades under 6cm are allowed in the cabin. Razor blades are only permitted if set in plastic. Knives with blades not exceeding 6cm can be carried onboard. Other sharp items are banned. Camping stoves and fuel containers with flammable liquid must go in the hold. Animals are not allowed except registered guide and assistance dogs.
