The Glass House restaurant at The Grove Hotel in Watford, northwest of London, has been showcased on Netflix's Million Dollar Buffet, which spotlights lavish all-you-can-eat spreads at luxury hotels. Now a food enthusiast has visited to see whether the venue, described as one of the globe's most exceptional buffets, lives up to its billing.
Grace Booth brought her family along for the culinary adventure, admitting she was initially sceptical. 'Apparently this is the best breakfast buffet in England,' she declared, adding that she often finds English breakfast buffets too focused on savoury dishes when she favours sweeter options.
Filming the impressive array, Grace highlighted the drinks, including freshly prepared smoothies, before moving on to granola and cereal stations, and a fruit counter with chopped melon, pineapple, apples, pears and oranges. In the hot section, she remarked: 'There's even two types of bacon.' She also discovered pastries, muffins, doughnuts, fresh waffles and pancakes, alongside smoked fish and charcuterie. Eggs could be cooked to order, including Eggs Benedict, Eggs Florentine and Eggs Royale.
Grace was equally impressed by the family-friendly touches, noting: 'They've even offered us baby cutlery.' She ordered an omelette for her baby, which she later declared was the finest she had ever tasted.
After returning home, Grace delivered her verdict: 'I have to say, it is the best breakfast I have ever been to in England. Not in other countries, because other countries are doing it way better than England's breakfast buffet game. But that one is unbelievable.' The Glasshouse buffet is open to hotel guests and non-residents, though at weekends it is exclusively for hotel residents. It costs £28 per person for guests and £40 for non-residents.
