The Baa-kery Barn, a 100% gluten-free independent bakery and café, opened its doors at 10am on Friday, July 3, 2026, at 129 Wallasey Village, Wirral. The new establishment caters to those with Coeliac disease and gluten intolerance, offering a safe space where nobody feels like the odd one out.
Menu and Offerings
The bakery serves freshly baked treats including cookies, cupcakes, bread, sandwiches, cakes, and savoury options. It also sells bread from gluten-free brand Oaf and coffee from Birkenhead-based roasters Adams & Russell. The café is open Monday to Saturday from 8am to 4pm, with a sit-in café, takeaway service, and online orders for UK-wide delivery Monday to Thursday.
Community Support
The business said it has been overwhelmed by support and the amount of orders placed so far. On social media, the bakery stated: "After months of planning, renovating, baking, tasting and preparing, we can’t wait to finally welcome you into our 100% gluten-free bakery and café." They also thanked customers: "Your kind words, encouragement and orders have meant more than you know, and we can’t wait to welcome both familiar and new faces through our doors."
Background
The business first announced getting the keys to the shop in May 2026, saying: "We've received some absolutely amazing comments and support from our wonderful Wirral community already, and we're so excited to be bringing another gluten-free safe space to the Wirral." They added: "We want to make one thing really clear - we're not here to take over or push anyone out. There are already some fantastic establishments offering gluten-free options across the area, and we think that's amazing. Our goal is simply to bring even more choice, create a safe and welcoming space for the coeliac and gluten-free community, and build a great working environment for our team too."
