The first BA Cityflyer flight from Glasgow Airport to San Sebastian took off over the weekend, opening a new summer getaway option for Scots. The seasonal route operates twice a week until September 8, with flights every Tuesday and Saturday.
Flight Schedule and Destinations
Flights depart Glasgow at 3:15pm on Tuesdays and 7:35am on Saturdays. Return flights leave San Sebastian at 7:25pm on Tuesdays and 11:45am on Saturdays. San Sebastian, also known as Donostia, sits on Spain’s northern coast and is famed for its crescent-shaped La Concha Beach with golden sands and calm waters. Visitors can walk to Santa Clara Island at low tide. Other beaches include Ondarreta Beach, quieter with family-friendly facilities, and Zurriola Beach, popular with surfers for its bigger waves.
Food and Culture
San Sebastian is a top food destination with more Michelin-starred restaurants per square kilometre than almost anywhere else. Famous restaurants include Akelarre, Arzak and Martín Berasategui. The Old Town offers bars serving pintxos, traditional Basque small bites described as more creative than tapas. Another attraction is Monte Igueldo, where a 100-year-old wooden cable car takes visitors to a vintage amusement park with views across the bay.
