The North West Aqua Park has opened at the Anderton Centre in Chorley, near Bolton. It is believed to be the biggest inflatable waterpark in the region.
Opening day attracts families
On Monday morning, families flocked to be among the first to try the new attraction, which is set against the backdrop of Lower Rivington Reservoir. The park can accommodate up to 60 people at a time.
The Aqua Park features giant inflatable obstacles, slides, climbing walls, balance challenges and splash zones, all under the supervision of a fully qualified lifeguard team. It is designed for families, friends, community groups and thrill seekers alike.
Tickets and sessions
Tickets have been selling quickly for the attraction, which is open almost every day in August, except for the 15th and 22nd, and then on weekends throughout September. Each hour-long session costs £20 per person and includes a safety briefing.
Wetsuits and life jackets are provided, though wetsuits may not be essential if the water is warmer. Participants need grippy gel socks, which cost £2 a pair, or they can bring their own trampolining socks.
Charity investment and demand
The launch of the Aqua Park represents a significant investment in outdoor recreation at the Anderton Centre, a registered charity that also offers kayaking, archery and paddle boarding. The summer school holiday club is fully booked, but spaces remain for October half term.
Organisers say the public response has been overwhelming, with strong demand and bookings continuing to grow as the summer holidays get underway.
Jason Pendlebury, chief executive of the Anderton Centre, said: "Today marks a hugely significant milestone for the Anderton Centre. Seeing the Aqua Park come to life and watching so many people enjoying the experience has been incredibly rewarding for everyone involved."
He added: "The enthusiasm from our first visitors has exceeded our expectations, and we are absolutely delighted by the level of public interest and the number of bookings we have already received."
Visitor requirements and hours
The minimum age is six and the minimum height is 1.1m. Children aged six to 11 must be accompanied by an adult, with a ratio of one adult to two children. Children aged 12 and over need an adult if they are not confident in open water or in large groups.
Sessions run from 9.30am, with the last session from 4pm to 5pm. Tickets can be booked on the website.
