A reporter has claimed that a spontaneous 48-hour trip to Paris cost her less than a typical night out in London. Ashley Bautista, writing for the Daily Mirror, said she spent under £100 on activities and food during her weekend getaway, excluding travel and accommodation.
Bautista drove from London to Paris with her parents and a friend, leaving on a Saturday morning and returning just after midnight on Sunday. She said the decision was partly driven by the high cost of a night out in London, which can easily reach £100. 'If I’m going to spend £100 on a night out, why not go abroad, instead?' she wrote.
The group focused on enjoying the city rather than ticking off tourist attractions, though they made a point of visiting the Eiffel Tower for Bautista's friend, who had never seen it. Activities included walking, sitting in coffee shops, shopping, and bar-hopping during happy hour.
Bautista noted that prices in 2025 are higher than in previous decades, making weekend trips abroad an attractive alternative to spending money on drinks, transport, and club entries in London. She encouraged readers to embrace spontaneity, saying that 'some of the best memories come from impulsive decisions.'
