EasyJet Holidays has introduced a 28-day all-inclusive package to Hurghada, Egypt, priced at £650 per person, which the company claims is cheaper than the average UK monthly expenditure of £877. The deal includes return flights, accommodation, meals, drinks, WiFi, airport transfers, and a 23kg hold bag.
Departures are available from Gatwick and Bristol on 3 January, and from Manchester and Luton on 4 January, with limited availability. The resort, Stella Gardens Resort Hurghada, features a gym, and winter temperatures in Hurghada range from 11°C to 22°C, milder than the UK.
According to the Office for National Statistics, over 50% of Britons are considering leaving the UK this winter to avoid rising energy bills. EasyJet's calculations show the average 28-day cost for UK residents is £877, including utilities, food, and rent, with energy bills alone estimated at £85.84 per person.
Matt Callaghan, easyJet holidays' Customer & Operations Director, said: 'With a growing number of Brits now searching online to see if they can escape abroad this winter, we knew we needed to try to provide consumers with a solution.' Personal finance expert Lynn Beattie noted that for those who can sublet their homes, the package is an attractive offer.
This initiative follows a trend of travel companies capitalising on energy cost fears, such as TravelTime World's 'The Heat Is On' campaign in September.
